The return of fairs in the summer of 2021 is so still up in the air. And the fair boards and volunteers may again be involved in decision-making alterations to scheduled events.
The Ford County Fair is one of the earlier events in June followed by the Punkin Vine Fair at Newton County, IN. and Iroquois County in July. In Indiana – Jasper, Lake, Porter and LaPorte counties are being planned for this summer. It’s all ahead after the pandemic forced so many cancellations last year.
Trying to get back to normal is a key goal for many organizers. County health departments are working with fair boards to coordinate different aspects of the fairs, including food vendors, entertainment, and 4-H and FFA participation.
For health and safety concerns, fair boards will need safeguards --- a COVID-19 and public health plan. Fair boards are optimistic that 2021 events will happen.
