Milford breaks ground for new school

Community and business friends gathered with the Milford (Maps District #124) school board on the lawn of the Milford Grade School Friday. It was special day to mark the start of construction for a new high school and renovation of the grade school.
School Board President Mary Ronna was glowing ......

The special day, local officials agreed, comes from people working together for a common cause – showing good things can/will happen with people having a vision instead of stirring controversy.

It was a positive tax referendum in April (61% of the vote) that now has Milford school district #124 building a new high school to replace the existing 103-year-old building.

Superintendent Dale Hastings said this project can be a magnet for attracting new business and maybe housing developments too.

Milford district residents voted 733-480 to approve taxes of $17.5 million over 25 years to replace the old building. There will be classrooms, including two complete gyms — a high school gym for competition and a theater/gym for the junior high. There also will be a music room and cafeteria students from high school to kindergarten will share in the two-story, 94,000 square foot facility.

Ronna said so many 'Thank You's' have to be extended........
