MABAS 37 IN Iroquois County...the firefighters Mutual Aid Box Alarm System...is asking farmers to be safe, alert and more-prepared as the Fall harvest continues.
Members of the Eastern Illinois Mutual Fire Aid Association advise that farmers can help in the event emergency situations arise. Property owners and farmers should have combines equipped with initial response tools in the event of a combine fire. An attached tillage tool is an obvious help in the event of a field fire.
Trucks and tractors should be equipped with fire extinguishers and a 5-gallon pressurized water extinguisher onboard combines are a big help.
Also, should that fire or smoke erupt, move that equipment and notify 9-1-1. Don't wait or investigate. Instead, get the fire department on the move.
Mutual Aid Association President Jeff Glenn also suggests that field workers know there whereabouts, be aware of the county coordinates to help with directions for responders.
The SAFETY REMINDER comes as dry, windy conditions develop during the harvest.
