The city of Danville is looking to expand its police force. And other area communities are doing the same.
The city of Danville has been accepting applications since the beginning of December and currently has 27. The commissioners recently discussed extending a deadline for accepting police officer applications, hoping for a larger group of candidates to test, then create a new eligibility list from which to draw from when filling vacancies.
Danville’s also accepting firefighter applications. The deadline to apply is April 30. Testing for fire operations begins in May.
No word for sure, if it’s because of an increase in violence and gunfire...but other cities are also accepting applications to beef up police departments.
Champaign and Urbana and the U of I welcome applications for entry-level police officers. Experienced officers are also welcome to apply.
