Health officials warning: Don’t take chances with frostbite-hypothermia

Brutal cold has a grip on the Midwest. Record low temperatures hit -19 with wind chills at 45-below this morning. Health experts warn about the dangers of frostbite and hypothermia.

Should symptoms arise – shivering, confusion and drousiness – contact medical experts immediately. Frostbite can happen quickly and can cause permanent injury.

Warming Centers are open to accommodate those having problems with no heat.

Emergency Management Agency offices can offer sites.
