Indiana state highway officials now say it will be at least one month before Interstate 65 North is reopened over the Wildcat Creek.
Engineers and other experts report they have identified the solution is to install high-strength, small-diameter micropiles. INDOT said micropiles have been used effectively to stabilize other bridge piers around the country.
I-65 was closed down a second time last Friday (August 7) for public safety, when a pylon sank at least 7 inches.
INDOT reports construction is responsible for the current issues on I-65.
