The Merchant Street MusicFest is bringing back memories again this year. And the downtown Kankakee event is attracting people from all over to hear the sounds that many grew up to – like the Ohio Players and the Fifth Dimension.
The two-day, popular annual event started yesterday (Friday) and continues with
more bands on stage today and tonight. 94.1 WGFA was on hand Friday for a "live" broadcast to get the fun underway.
Three stages feature acts from local musicians, regionally-known bands, and also national acts that headline each of the two days.
The Ohio Players are featured tonight (Sat). Friday night is was the Fifth Dimension. There's 35 acts in all on the Marchant Street Stage, the Hill Stage and the Platform Stage.
There is a $5 dollar admission fee.
