The annual polar plunge events this weekend will raise money for Special Olympics. Law enforcement agencies sponsor many of the events, including the Manteno Lake plunge at 2 pm Saturday.
The event supports Special Olympics athletes. Area participants are urged to get donations from co-workers, family and friends in order to earn the $100 donation to make the plunge into cold waterways. It’s always a unique, fun event for a great cause --- and it happens on a chilly morning as the spring season draws near.
Polar Plunge preregistration is today (Friday) 4 to 7 pm at the Manteno Sportsmen’s Club.
Saturday registration will begin at noon. The plunge into the lake is at 2 pm. For additional information visit plungeillinois.com.
