A Momence man died as a result of injuries he sustained in a crash involving two motorcycles on East River North Road west of Momence.

68-year-old John Robbins was pronounced dead at Riverside Medical Center a little before 9 pm Tuesday. His motorcycle struck the rear of another motorcycle. Police said his motorcycle left the road and struck a power pole. The Coroner’s office reported the other motorcycle driver was treated at the scene.

                     Gibson City garage fire ---

There were some 25 firefighters who responded to a garage fire in Gibson City Wednesday evening. The garage was ruled a total loss, but firemen were able to keep the flames from consuming the house at North West Street. Crews battled flames bursting out of a garage in Gibson City Wednesday night.

No injury was reported. The cause may have been a lawnmower but the state fire msrshall is investigating. Eliott firemen also responded.
