In Ford County Court – 27-year-old Thomas Hoekstra pleaded guilty Tuesday to reckless homicide in connection with an August 2016 head-on crash that killed a 19-year-old Paxton woman.
Hoekstra’s plea to the Class 3 felony finds Ford County State’s Attorney Andrew Killian agreeing to dismiss two other Class 2 felony counts of aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol.
Sentencing is set for May 24. Hoekstra faces a sentence ranging from up to 30 months of probation to 2-5 years in prison and fines totaling $25,000.
A two-vehicle head-on collision south of Paxton killed a passenger in the other vehicle (Kourtni “Suzy” Eastman) and injured three others.
