A Lowell, IN man is in custody after leading Newton County Sheriff deputies on a chase Tuesday. It started just before 7 am whena vehicle was clocked at 90 mph while southbound on State Road 55. 37-year-old Gerald Cramer Jr. was stopped after a 15-minute pursuit across several county roads. Cramer is charged with reckless driving, resisting law enforcement and several traffic offenses.
Jasper County Sheriff's Police and Indiana State Police assisted Newton County.
It wwas the second pursuit for Newton County deputies in the last three days. Sunday night, a Gary (IN) man led polcie on a chase up U.S. 41. 30-year-old Javis Hall fled wfrom a traffic stop then ran out of gas in Lake County. He was arrested for reckless driving, criminal recjlessness and possession of a controlled substance. Police also learned Hall had two daughters (ages 4 and 8) in the vehicle with him.
