Watseka Police were busy this past week citing motorists for parking in snow zones.

Police report up to a dozen vehicles were ticketed for leaving vehicles parked in a snow zone, prohibiting snow plows from clearing roads in a timely manner. City ordinance requires vehicles to be moved from streets so plows can get their jobs done. Police remind motorists to be aware of the ‘snow ordinance’ when two or more inches of snow is expected.

Most of Illinois’ interstates are clear of ice and snow. But there are secondary routes still posing slick conditions. I-DOT crews spent much of the weekend clearing the state’s main roads, but county and township roads are still snow-packed and treacherous. Caution is the word. Drivers are urged to slow down and give yourself plenty of time to-and-from.
