There’s been a lot of inquiries, lot of questions from people for and against solar farms, and today (Tuesday) the Kankakee County Board took another step forward.

The Board OK’d three additional solar farm sites. Earlier, the Planning & Zoning committee identified nine such sites suitable for solar farm development. The three new sites gained approval while one in Aroma Park – along Heiland Road -- was turned away.

County Board Chairman Andy Wheeler said citizens in that area made their voices heard, telling local officials they were not in favor. So, Wheeler said, the Board acted accordingly.
Wheeler says there’s several more sites that are workable in the county and proposals will be looked at. .......

Wheeler knows not everyone’s excited about renewable ENERGY, but people here are open to discussion......
