Watseka Police conduct safety compliance check

Motorists were cited for equipment violations and three arrests resulted during a safety compliance check in Watseka Friday evening.

Eleven traffic stops were made by officers. Watseka Police, in cooperation with the Gibson City Police Department K-9 unit, issued verbal warnings to drivers in non-compliance with safety. A search of three vehicles found the drivers to be in compliance.

Police also conducted walk-throughs at local taverns and found all operators to be in compliance with local and state laws.

One notable arrest was 25-year-old Clayton Stauffer. He was charged with unlawful use of a weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia.
