Daily-Journal reporter Dennis Yohnka dies

Veteran reporter and Daily Journal columnist Dennis Yohnka died Monday following a brief hospitalization at Riverside Medical Center. He was 68.

Yohnka was a popular member of the D-J newsroom, often using his talents to touch home with human interest features that showcased individuals and communities. He spent decades working as a sportswriter, features writer, correspondent, education reporter and columnist. He also worked various jobs in public relations.

An award-winning journalist, Yohnka grew up in Chebanse. He graduated from Central High School in Clifton and Northern Illinois University in DeKalb.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Knapp Funeral Home, Clifton.
