SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced the release of its Long Range Transportation Plan to help advance sustainable and multimodal solutions that support local goals and grow the state’s economy. The public comment period ends May 16.
“Transportation is what sets Illinois apart from other states and gives us our competitive edge,” said Gov. Bruce Rauner. “The Long Range Transportation Plan outlines a path to keep making strategic investments in infrastructure that drive growth in business and promote safety and quality of life in our communities.”
Under state statute, a Long Range Transportation Plan is required by IDOT to guide the development of the state’s transportation system. The plan defines objectives, identifies implementation strategies and sets measures for tracking progress.
