Ameren work crews were on the job Tuesday afternoon when a power outage eliminated service to about 3,000 customers in the Paxton area. Power was out from about 3:15 until near 6 pm. The outage also affected northern Champaign County and parts of Vermilion County.

Unofficial reports indicated a problem at a sub-station. The matter may have been wind-related.
