It's 33-years strong and the popularity of the Kankakee River Fishing Derby isn't letting up. The annual derby started today (Friday), runs for 10 days, and a seven-pounder already reeled in.
Cash prizes and a lot of enjoyment are included.
Excellent weather conditions and the river conditions, for a change, just perfect....according to Fishing Derby Co-Chairman Ken Munjoy "fish were tagged and released Wednesday, 96 tagged fish are available for cash prizes."
" A seven-pound Northern was already caught. Prize amounts vary depending on the sponsor," Munjoy said.
The grand prize this year is a boat, motor and trailer sponsored by Local 176 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and the National Electrical Contractors Association.
And a big thanks to the many sponsors.
