Kinzinger, Shimkus address Ford County Republicans

America needs to find its mission again.  And Republicans need to re-define their purpose.

That's part of the message Illinois Congressman Adam Kinzinger delivered Tuesday evening to Ford County attendees at the Lincoln Day Dinner. Kinzinger shared the spotlight with Congressman John Shimkus as keynote speakers.

Kinzinger said America needs to lead by example..."America has to be a leader, be an example for the world; not to take over, but lead how things should be done," the 16th district congressman said.  "That's the idea of the shining city on the hill."

Kinzinger said "we have to understand our mission.  The mission is not to be comfortable, but to lead and be an example and be comfortable in the process."

Kinzinger also said he has concerns about the GOP party fighting and dividing.  He said, depending on who the front-runner is, we have to unite.
