Watseka, Sheldon, Milford and Iroquois are among the communities in the dark this (Friday) morning. A power outage took out the lights at about 5:20 am.
There was no immediate word on the source of the problem. Emergency communications reports it may be 7:30 or 8 am before the power is re-stored.
Watseka had 1,286 customers affected. Up to 733 Sheldon residents were in the dark, the village of Iroquois and Milford are also affected by the interruption.
The Illinois State Police Weigh Station along Route 24, east of Sheldon, is also out of service.
