Emily Vaughn of Gilman and Hayden Schaumburg of Watseka are among 24 high school seniors who will be pursuing agriculture-related majors in college. Both have been awarded a $1,500 scholarship by Farm Credit Illinois.
Vaughn, the daughter of Doug and Stacie Vaughn, will graduate from Iroquois West High School and attend the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to major in crop sciences.
Schaumburg, the son of Clint and Jolyn Schaumburg, will graduate from Watseka Community High School and attend the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to major in agriculture business.
This is the 13th year of the Farm Credit agriculture scholarship program. Farm Credit Illinois has awarded nearly $300,000 to 274 student since 2004. Scholarship selections are based on a combination of academic achievement, participation and leadership in school and community organizations, and the applicant's commitment to an agricultural career.
