The Ford County Public Health Department reports the West Nile virus has been detected in mosquitoes in the county. The department has had two dead birds tested, but the virus was not present in either of them.

Citizens are reminded that only mosquito repellent with at least 20 percent of the ingredient DEET is effective against the virus-carrying mosquitoes.

Ford County officials listened to opposition about wind farms ---

Members of the Ford County Board listened but offered no comment after a handful of citizens voiced concerns about proposed revisions to the county’s ordinance regulating wind farms.

The Ford County Board is yet to consider proposed changes to the county ordinance regarding wind farm regulations. A zoning committee has suggested changes, including setback requirements. The county zoning commission will consider changes before advancing a plan to the Zoning Board of Appeals. Any proposals then is forwarded to the full County Board.

At Monday night’s County Board meeting, citizens addressed health concerns already talked about.
