Pilot injured in Vermilion County plane crash

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating a plan crash in rural Vermilion County. It happened Friday evening north of the Vermilion Regional Airport.

The small plane crash left the pilot injured. Vermilion County Sheriff’s Police reported the pilot was the sole occupant of the plane. The crash was near the Illinois-Indiana state line.

Police said the pilot was transferred from the scene by a Lifeline helicopter to an area hospital for treatment.

Information on his condition was not immediately available.

FAA officials were already present at the airport, attending the Balloon over Vermilion event. The National Transportation Safety Board has been notified about the crash.
