Twenty non-life threatening injuries were reported (Saturday) when a school bus overturned on I-65 in Jasper County, Indiana. The bus was carrying the Griffith boys basketball team.
Indiana State Police said the driver of a passenger car spilled a drink on herself, causing her to sideswipe the bus.
23-year-old Dominique Small, of Terre Haute, was southbound when she spilled a drink on herself. She then sideswiped the bus, causing the bus to overturn.
The 20 people injured were treated at Franciscan Jasper County Hospital in Rensselaer. Small and her passenger were also treated for non life-threatening injuries.
Griffith High School later issued its own press release stating, Griffith Freshmen boys basketball coach David Garrett was airlifted to the University of Chicago Hospital. No word on his condition. The team was on its way to Lafayette for a semi-state tournament game.
