Kankakee police and the Kankakee County Coroner's officer are investigating a shooting which left a boy dead. It happened Sunday afternoon.

Police Investigators indicated the shooting is believed to be accidental.

The victim is 8-year-old Jeremiah Wilson. He was pronounced dead at Riverside Hospital. An autopsy is planned.

Police were called to the 900-block of E. Chestnut Street just after 1 pm.

Grief counselors will be available in the Kankakee School District 111. Jeremiah was a 3rd-grader at Thomas Edison Primary School.
