Volunteer fire departments across the state have until Aug. 13 to apply for COVID-19 relief grants. The Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal said approximately 80 eligible fire districts in various communities could get up to $15,000 to make up for lost donations because they were unable to host fundraisers during 2020. Grants are expected to be awarded in October.
