Kankakee Fire does $7,000 in damage

An electrical fire fueled by flammable liquids did about $7,000 damage to a house in Kankakee overnight. Firefighters were called to 196 N. Cottage about 11;30 pm No injuries reported. The occupants were displaced for the night. Seven dogs were rescued.

Kankakee Fire Chief Bryan LaRoche reported it was an electrical short in a lamp with improper storage of flammable liquids the likely cause. There was $5,000 damage to the building and another $2,000 in damage to the contents.
