The National Weather Service is posting a second straight day of heat advisories for Illiana. The Advisory is in place from Noon until 7 pm. The Heat Index Values could reach 105 to 110 with temps around 92. (The Heat Index is how hot it feels when you factor the temperature with humidity).
Community cooling centers are suggested to assist those who may not have access to air-conditioning. The hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.
The Weather Service suggests you drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned area if possible, stay out of the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances – but especially during these hot conditions.
