10 years in prison for Rankin man, guilty plea in rolling meth lab case

A Rankin man was sentenced this week to 10 years in state prison for his role in a rolling meth lab discovered during a traffic stop in downtown Paxton.

26-year-old Christopher Searcy was handed the sentence (Tues). Searcy pleaded guilty to four felonies stemming from his March 1 arrest. The charges included unlawful participation in methamphetamine production, unlawful possession of anhydrous ammonia, unlawful possession of methamphetamine.

Ford County Circuit Judge Matt Fitton sentenced Searcy to 10 years for the first two felony counts. The run concurrent to a seven-year prison term he received for the third and fourth counts.

Searcy was the second person to plead guilty in connection with the rolling meth lab. 20-year-old Eugene Forbes III of Rankin pleaded guilty to identical charges as Searcy earlier. He'll be sentenced June 16.
