The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) approved 113 transportation improvement projects across the five counties of the 106th legislative district. The projects are funded by the Rebuild Illinois capital bill announced (Monday) by IDOT and Gov.JB Pritzker. The multi-year plan lays out $23.5 billion dollars in maintenance preservation and expansion projects. Iroquois, Ford, Livingston, Vermilion and Woodford counties all share in the money allocated.Rep. Tom Bennett said many of the projects are long overdo.
Sections of Route 24 and 45 in Iroquois and Ford counties will see upgrades. Ford County will get upgrades on Route 9. Upgrades on Route 17 in Livingston County are included. Vermilion County gains the most, including a bridge replacement along Route 1. More than $31-million dollars is proposed for engineering and reconstruction of almost six miles of U.S. Route 150 west of Danville. Another $17.7 million dollars goes toward a bridge superstructure along I-74 and a median crossover at the Salt Fork of the Vermilion River west of Danville.
The IDOT plan announced this week is a multi-year transportation program, covering a five-year plan from 2020-2025. The list covers only those projects authorized by the state. Additional transportation funding from Rebuild Illinois is also available to cities, counties and townships.
