The Kankakee County Public Health Department is reporting its first coronavirus-related death. A woman in her 40's, with earlier medical issues, has died from the virus complications. The health department reported 57 positive cases of COVID-19 late Wednesday. Public Health Department Administrator John Beavis admonishes people to pay attention and take this emergency pandemic seriously. "Too many people are doing things like they're on vacation; this is serious business," Beavis said. "Stay home means stay home, no socializing. It's the only way we'll ever be able to get control of this," he said.
Illinois Public Health officials (Wednesday) reported nearly a thousand new cases of the virus, bringing the total number of positive cases to almost 7,000. There were 42 deaths in Illinois yesterday from COVID-19-related causes. Illinois' stay-at-home order runs through April 30.
