One person was killed in a two vehicle head-on crash that occurred on New River Road near Boathouse Road in Wilmington. It happened about 6:30 Thursday morning. Witnesses told Wilmington Police a westbound vehicle passed a semi-truck on a curve in a no passing zone when it collided with an eastbound vehicle.  The driver and the passenger of the westbound vehicle that passed the semi were transported to St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet. The passenger in that vehicle passed away. The driver in the eastbound vehicle had serious injuries.

The Illinois State Police is reconstructing the accident. The Wilmington Fire Department, Elwood Police Department and Wilmington ESDA also assisted at the scene.
