2nd arrest made in Newton County’s triple murder case

Newton County, Indiana Sheriff Tom VanVleet has announced a second arrest was made in the investigation of Sunday’s triple murder in Sumava Resorts.

24-year-old Derrick Thomas Cardosi of Sumava Resorts was arrested early Wednesday morning by sheriff’s police and the Indiana State Police. Cardosi and Sebastian Wedding of Cedar Lake are both jailed in Kentland.

A planned murder is being investigated. Cardosi is charged with assisting a criminal and conspiracy to commit murder. Cardosi was arrested at his residence at 12:30 am.

The victims, who all lived at the residence where the murder happened, were discovered Sunday night around 8 pm. The victims were identified as 39-year-old Kimberly Spears, 20-year-old Justin Babbs and 23-year-old Richard Thomas.
