The 33rd annual Kankakee River Valley Fishing Derby is on the calendar for July 1-10. The event is sponsored by the Northern Illinois Anglers Association (NIAA).

Association president Ken Munjoy said more than $50,000 in potential prizes will be awarded. Munjoy is also the Derby Chairman and says area businesses are now displaying posters and registration materials.

Those who register by June 21 will be eligible for a $100 Early Bird Registration Drawing.

The grand prize, again, is a boat, motor and trailer sponsored by Local 176 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and the National Electrical Contractors Association.

Ten prize fish will be worth $1,000 in cash or merchandise. Several other $1,000 sponsors will make prizes available.
