Absence of protective gear stirs questions at Shapiro

State employees at the Shapiro Mental Health Center in Kankakee have raised questions about their protection following reports of coronavirus cases at the facility.  Chicago news reports (Tuesday) also revaled family members of Shapiro patients weren't notified in a timely manner about the disease's presence.  State Representartive Lyndsay Parkhurst is asking the Governor's office to take action.  The news report pointed at accusations that Shapiro staff and residents were not provided proper protective equipment.  Parkhurst was leaning toward the Department of Human Services for mis-management, if the accusations are true. There were reports of a dozen positive COVID-19 cases at Shapiro.
