“Active shooter” training turns real in Bradley, suspect arrested – without gun

•Just a couple of weeks after law enforcement were involved in an "active training" shooting exercise in Kankakee County, several police agencies responded today (Monday) to a report of an "active shooter."

It was at the Target Store in Bradley. Fortunately, a suspect had no gun. No shots were fired. No one was injured.

Bradley Police Lt. Mike Johnston tells 94.1 WGFA News the suspect was taken into custody without incident.
Disorderly conduct is the charge. Lt. Johnston said authorities were still looking into how this became an active shooter call – no weapon was ever found.

The motive for the suspect to alarm everyone ? Lt. Johnston said the suspect was protesting Target's policy on transgender bathrooms. His actions disturbed target employees and customers inside the store.

Police from several departments converged at the Water Tower Plaza, just off Route 50, around 1 pm. Other emergency vehicles set up staging across the highway at another shopping plaza lot. Thirty-four officers representing eight police agencies answered the call.

Bradley Police emphasized no one was injured. It was just two weeks ago when several police agencies participated in an "active shooter" training exercise at Olivet Nazarene University in nearby Bourbonnais.
