Adult book store incident leads to guilty plea

Iroquois County Circuit Judge Gordon Lustfeldt sentenced a Champaign man (Thursday) to probation and fined him $750 dollars for an incident at an adult book store in Buckley.

36-year-old Paul Zindars pleaded guilty to a Class 3 felony of aggravated battery. He was arrested in 2012 for detaining a female employee at the store, just off I-57, and for fondling the woman. Iroquois County State's Attorney Jim Devine worked out an agreement allowing for the dismissal of two other felony charges.

The charges of criminal sexual abuse and unlawful restraint were dismissed.

Zindars was sentenced to a 30 month probation period.

In the same incident, Zindars faced a fleeing and alluding charge in Ford County after leading police on a high-speed chase on I-57 after he fled from the store in Buckley.
