Economic and market factors come into play for Alexander Lumber Company which announces it will merge local stores for better representation.

The company announced (Wednesday) it will merge the Gilman location to lumberyards in Fairbury and Watseka to better serve Iroquois, Livingston and Kankakee counties.

.The business location at Bloomington lumberyard will merge into LeRoy, and they will close several other lumberyards and merge others around central Illinois. Lumberyards in Canton and Lincoln will close too.

In a statement, Alexander Lumber said the closures come after extensive market research which shows it should focus resources on lumberyards located in major metro and mid-sized markets.
