The Kankakee County Board (Tuesday) recognized June 10, 2025 as Alexis McCullough Day in Kankakee County. An official Proclamation cites the effort of Alexis is a fundraising effort to bring a Gold Star Families Memorial to Bourbonnais – to honor the fallen heroes of our military.

Rep. Jackie Haas read and presented a certificate to Alexis, the certificate recognized by the 104th General Assembly for earning her Eagle Scout Award thru the Gold Star Families project.

Alexis presented a pictorial of her fundraising effort, explaining how her father (Col. Mark McCullough) inspired her story and effort to bring the Gold Star Families Memorial to Route 102 in Bourbonnais --- dedicated the same day Watseka unveiled its Gold Star Families Memorial at Legion Park.

Alexis thanked the County Board and the community for their support in helping the fundraising project become a reality.
