Alleged violations at daycare where girl drowned

A daycare facility near Danville is being reprimanded by the state of Illinois for neglect after a four year-old girl drowned in a pool there last fall.

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services reports the Shawnee's Little Shadows Daycare Facility, in Vermilion County, received two allegations of neglect.

The code that DCFS said the daycare violated states that children shall be supervised at all times and that all children in the home shall be protected from exploitation, neglect and abuse.

A safety protection plan is in place. The facility is currently closed during the enforcement process.

The reprimand stems from the drowning of Ryleigh Arnett in a pool at the daycare last September. Reports stated the girl entered the pool without her flotation device. Arnett was found under the water by the daycare operator.
