The Watseka American Legion Post #23 along with other Legion Posts will be soliciting for an Honor Guard Collection. The event is to raise money to purchase uniforms for American Legion Color Guards.

A drive-through collection is scheduled for Thursday (10/4) at the Big R Parking Lot in Watseka from 6am-7pm.

Thursday is Honor Guard Collection Day. Similar collections are scheduled in Danville, Tilton, Champaign and surrounding communities.

Lyle Kofoot is with Legion Post #23 in Watseka. He says the military uniforms show solidarity among the membership.

The Honor Guards are popular at military funerals and oftentimes, are part of parades and presenting the flags at civic and sporting events.
