One person is dead and passengers are stranded after an Amtrak train hit a vehicle and derailed in University Park. Amtrak train 393 crashed into a box truck at a crossing Sunday evening. Officials say there were just under 300 passengers on board the train that departed from Chicago's Union Station, headed to Carbondale. The impact killed the truck driver. Two Amtrak passengers were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Amtrak officials say the train was moving at 70 mph when it hit the box truck near the University Park Metra Station at about 5 pm.
