Kankakee Police and the Kankakee County Coroner's office are investigating what appears to be a fatal hit and run accident. It happened Monday night on U.S. Route 45, south of Kankakee.

An unidentified man died at Presence St. Mary's Hospital just before 11 pm. County Coroner Bob Gessner said an autopsy was scheduled.
