APRIL IS DISTRACTED DRIVING MONTH

                                       "Phone in one hand – Ticket it in other"

Ashkum, IL- Illinois State Police District 21 covering Kankakee, Iroquois and Ford Counties are advising motorist of April being distracted driving month.

The Illinois State Police want to remind drivers of the dangers of distracted driving. As of January 1, 2014 the use of a hand-held cell phone device while behind the wheel is banned. Bluetooth headsets, earpieces, and voice activated commands are permitted.

The Illinois State Police District 21 will be conducting numerous details throughout the month of April. This initiative will focus on Distracted Driving and "Fatal Four" enforcement. The goal of the operation is to combine education and enforcement to achieve compliance with distracted driving and graduated driver's licensing laws.
