Wednesday was the start of a brief cold snap. Temperatures plunged overnight and will remain dangerously cold through today (Thursday) until it warms back up on Friday and into the weekend.

Today’s forecast is cloudy and cold. High only at 10-12. Wind chills near -17.

Indiana school districts – North and South Newton and Rensselaer Central – operated on two-hour delays earlier this morning.

A Wind Chill Advisory went into effect Wednesday night due to dangerous wind chill values. The advisory was posted until mid-morning today.

Even though it’s extremely cold, forecasters say it’ll be brief. Friday will begin another warmup as the next system moves in, bringing with it a chance of snow.
