Arkansas man arrested in Gilman shooting

A shooting at the Pilot Travel Center in Gilman Tuesday night finds an Arkansas man jailed in Iroquois County.
36-year-old Jason Sanders is charged with attempted murder and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon.

Iroquois County Sheriff’s Police and Gilman Police reported the arrest Wednesday afternoon.

Sheriff Derek Hagen said there was an altercation in the parking lot area of the Pilot truck stop between Sanders and 48-year-old Krzysztof Bogucki of Chicago. Sanders allegedly pulled out a handgun, firing and hitting the victim twice.

Bogucki was in stable condition at Carle Hospital in Urbana.
Sanders fled in a semi. Bogucki entered the truck stop asking for help.

Illinois State Police stopped Sanders in Champaign County. A bond hearing is likely today.
