A stubborn ceiling fire at the Kankakee Tank Wash on Eastgate Drive Monday evening did a reported $10,000 damage. No injury was reported. Kankakee Fire responded at 6:30 and fire personnel were at the scene some two and a-half hours. It was a small attic fire but hard to get at, according to Fire Chief Bryan LaRoche.
The cause was a heating unit too close to insulation in the wall. The business is still operational.
