A man was taken into custody and a portion of Attica, Indiana had to be evacuated Friday morning after police say they found bombs inside a van.
Attica Police Chief Bob Cole reports that 28-year-old Robert William Bandy II was arrested.
Police located two bombs in his van. And Bandy was also found wearing a bulletproof vest.
Bandy told authorities the explosives were for "personal protection."
Fountain County Dispatch received the first call around 10:15 am concerning the vehicle parked along Edgewood Drive, inside an apartment complex.
Cole says Bandy is on probation for multiple drug charges out of Montgomery County. That's what led to the van's location and its contents. Probation officers were apparently stopping in for a routine check on Bandy, when they located him and the vehicle.
