The State senate seat in the 53rd District went to Chris Balkema in a 4-person race. The Grundy County Board Chairman will move into the state office to succeed the retiring Tom Bennett.  Balkema won the 4-person contest by defeating Jesse Faber, Michael Kirkton and Susan Wynn Bence. Balkema won the Iroquois County vote nearly 45% of the vote.  Other counties final figures were still being compiled.
