Bank robbery in Watseka

Watseka Police were busy Tuesday morning investigating an armed bank robbery at Iroquois Farmers State Bank in Watseka. It unfolded at 9:48 am. Watseka Police were joined by Iroquois County Sheriff’s Police, Illinois State Police and the FBI in attempts to track down the man described as a white male wearing a gray wig and fake beard.

Police Chief Jeremy Douglas said the man stood about 6-2, was in his 40s and fled north to what’s believed to have been a blue Buick LeSabre. The man made off with an undisclosed amount of cash. There were no reports of any injury.

A precautionary soft lockdown was reported at Unit Nine schools. The lockdown was later lifted.
